Trousers / Jacket - recommendations

Postby stevent » Fri Aug 27, 2010 2:26 pm

Hi guys
I want to get a decent enduro jacket and pair of trousers for trail riding, I don't mind parting with a bit of cash for something decent which'll last and keep my dry n warm... I'm doing usual google searching but I expect that'll just scratch the surface, any recommendations where I can get these gratefully received.
Cheers

I have some KTM Hydrotech pants and they are waterproof and breathable and I highly recommend, they are not cheap though I think around the £110 mark but worth it.

I also have Thor enduro jacket, but have had Klem stuff in the past as well and its all top notch, just bought the thor because it caught my eye on ebay.

Also sidi crossfire boots, absolutely awesome boots worth every penny.
Cheers
Luke

Sinisalo stuff is good gear. My trousers are 3-years old and are still waterproof and holding together well. They are pretty tough and bramble proof, have some zipped vents, and a couple of good sized cargo pockets. "Over-boot" style with a waterproof gusset bit that goes down around the boot.

They were about £120.

I bought an expensive pair of Acerbis 'Korp' trousers (http://www.getgeared.co.uk/ACERBIS_Moto ... d_Jacket_2) , over boot style with elastic and velcro gaitors to keep water out of boots if it gets that deep. They are lined, water proof, hard wearing (heavy nylon) they have belt loops and adjustable waist band to get the fit just right and one handy pocket for your change. I think they were 70 quid. Expensive for me I can tell you, but they are good kit. I expect them to last ages and they aren't too lairy.
However, I then decide to get a jacket, could not bring myself to buy a Acerbis matching one, another 100 quid... so, I bought a second hand Akito Sierra jacket (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Akito-Sierra-Moto ... 563f36d922) for 30 quid (from an auto jumble) It came with armour which I removed as I like to wear a mesh jacket all in one. It also has 2 liners, a second water proof membrane and a really good quilted liner. It has loads of pockets, loads of vents if you need them (i do) and is again heavy nylon and sturdily made. Only issue I have had is with one pocket popper falling off. Did I mention it has orange detailing which matches my bike?!
Rambling over. If I had found a pair of matching Akito sierra trousers I would have bought them too. really good stuff.
Hope this helps
